Love Aaj Kal - A food for thought

*** Just a word of assurance that this is NOT a movie review. I am not telling you about the movie storyline, rather sharing my thoughts only after watching the movie ***

Saw Love Aaj Kal today, simple, beautiful and very cute, a must watch for everyone, specially for today's generation. It is gloing to teach you a lot. The subject is so close to my heart, that I thought of just sharing my thoughts without leaking a single scene from the movie.

The movie not only reminds us once again what relationship is all about, but also tells us how much we try to fool ourselves, we have to face ourselves one day. And that day we go through unbearable pain, if all along we have tried to live our lives to the tune of others, if we have not listened to our heart, if we always tried to be smart and practical. The problem with today's generation is that we get everything, yes i mean "everything" so easily, that we never realize the real worth until and unless it is being snatched away from us. And then, who are lucky, get a second chance, but most of us, being not so fortunate, live the rest of live with the thought "I wish I could have...."

In today's world, where money comes before relationship, brain always overshadows heart, sex precedes love, we need movies like this which teaches us the fundamentals that basics are always basics. Values never change. The time changes and so does the context, but there is no replacement for honesty. However difficult we might feel at times to face the truth, but once we take the step forward with courage and conviction, the mental peace we get nothing can be compared of.

  1. A beautiful write-up! You have correctly said that even though the situations change, the basic human values always stay the same. And, yes, nothing can replace honesty and compassion in their intrinsic beauty.

    Have a nice day :)

  6. I am surprised that the movie inspired you!! Maybe I got so bored that I never noticed all that you did!!

    Between, it isn't easy for this generation to earn or live... conveniences have increased many fold relatively, we lead a little fast life because that is the world, but when we fall in love (for real as opposed to flirting), it all boils down to the same things.....old or new generation..no difference!

    nice view!!

  7. @Pins N Ashes,
    Thanks for bringing some new perspective to my post.

    Actually, you should not be surprised. The way you did not notice which i noticed, same way i also did not notice which got you bored. So, it's fair enough. Everyone has their own priority and we decide to filter things based on that, nothing to be surprised here

    I did not get your point here, It seemed you wanted to make a statement but either it was too abstract or lacked content for me to comprehend. If you could elaborate what you wanted to say and where you are contradicting to what i said in my post, i can explain you my viewpoint.

  9. Great post!! I totally agree with you, there indeed is no replacement for honesty. Its the honesty in relationships that make them everlasting.

  10. @Zaida,

    Thanks. That was pretty much my point too :-), i did not intend to write a moview review, the moview conveyed the message which I believe and i am happy about it and that's what i shared.

    @A New Beginning,

    Thanks:-) with honesty you achieve so much inside, nothing else does it for you.

  11. Thanks for this post. Else I would not have planned to watch LAK because of bad review feedback from some people.

    I was very disappointed to know Imtiaz has made some blunder after making a classic jab we met.

    Now I will watch when I get chance :) Thank you

  12. @Boldnbeautiful,

    Well there is a mixed reaction about the movie, CNN-IBN has given it 2/5 I think and someone even on my post here has strongly critisized the movie and my thoughts on this as well.

    I would not go that extent saying Imtiaz has made a blunder, but I agree Depika was a wrong choice. Also, don't keep JWM at the back of your mind while watching LAK, you would be disappointed, go with an empty brain, you will watch the movie with unbiased thoughts.

    Best of luck and in case if you don't like, don't blame me :-P

  13. True Mustaf. I also enjoyed the fact that even the girl here was just getting desperate to get married, she had a career and she had the guts to be honest about her marriage! (thought that was really unfortunate)

  15. @indianhomemaker,

    Welcome to my blog :-). Yes I agree, in spite of all the negative feedback about the movie, I liked most the fact that it showed reality and did not judge whether the old or the new generation is better.

    @Mahesh,

    Welcome :-). Yes, before watching the movie, I was little touchy about the name, but after watching I could not think of a better befitting name for the movie. It was just right!!
